Gensol Engineering Ltd announced that it has been awarded a contract by an undisclosed public sector undertaking for the development of a 245-MW solar PV project at the Khavda RE Power Park in Gujarat. Valued at approximately Rs.967.98 crore (inclusive of GST), the contract includes three years of comprehensive O&M services. (February 7, 2025)
Bajel Projects Ltd, in a release, said that it has secured three major orders in January 2025 that have expanded the company’s order book by approximately Rs.940 crore (excluding GST) within a month. Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (GPIL) said that steel billets manufactured by the company have been approved by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for use by all manufacturers of galvanized steel structures for power transmission projects of PGCIL. Earlier, GPIL used to source billets from other leading steel producers including Steel Authority of India Ltd. GPIL also supplies galvanized fabricated steel structures to PGCIL and it is today the only Indian company that has the entire production value chain from iron ore to finished product. In-house production of steel billets will result in considerable cost savings for GPIL, the company said in a stock exchange filing. (February 6, 2025)
ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has partnered with GREW Solar to execute a prestigious solar power project at Bikaner in Rajasthan. The project utilized GREW Solar’s high-performance Topcon solar modules, manufactured at its state-of-the-art 3 GW production facility near Dudu, Jaipur. With an impressive portfolio of 6.97 GW of renewable energy projects, ACME Solar currently operates 2.54 GW of renewable energy assets, with an additional 4.43 GW under development. Marsons Ltd has received an order valued at Rs.42.71 crore from Jakson Ltd for supplying 10 MVA, 33/11kV transformers that will be deployed in a project of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), in Maharashtra. The board of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), in a meeting held on February 3, 2025, gave investment approval for implementation of LILO of both circuits of the 400kV double-circuit Vindhyachal Pooling Station – Sasan line. The project, estimated to cost Rs.370.02 crore, is scheduled to commission by December 2026, which is 30 months from the effective date. (February 4, 2025)
Senvion India has joined forces with a German wooden wind turbine blade manufacturer, Voodin Blade Technology GmbH to develop and manufacture high-performance wooden wind turbine blades for Senvion’s 4.2 MW wind turbine platform. The partnership will begin with a comprehensive feasibility study to evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental potential of wooden turbine blades, followed by the installation and testing of prototype blades. Voodin Blade Technology GmbH specializes in creating sustainable wood-based wind turbine blades using LVL to enhance performance and reduce environmental impact. Voodin has installed and tested prototype wooden blades in Germany last year. (February 4, 2025)
MP Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) has installed and charged a power transformer of 200 MVA capacity at the 220kV Pithampur Sector -III substation in Dhar district. It is the first 200-MVA capacity power transformer in the said district. With this, MPPTCL’s total transformation capacity in Dhar district has risen to 5,414 MVA and that of the state as a whole, to 80,914 MVA, a release by MPPTCL said. (February 3, 2025)
REC Ltd has been awarded ‘Gold Shield’ under the “Financial Services Sector (Other than Banking and Insurance)’ category ‘ICAI Awards for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the financial year 2023-24” category. The recognition reflects the commitment of REC to excel in financial reporting, transparency and adherence to the highest standards of accounting practices. Sharika Enterprises Ltd has announced the winning of solar rooftop and solar carport orders from Central government PSUs like NTPC, NHPC and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). These orders aggregating approximately 5 MW of capacity are valued at around Rs.22 crore. Sharika’s scope of works would include supply, installation and maintenance, the company said in a release. Apraava Energy announced the successful commissioning of its largest wind power project with the capacity of 250.7 MW (comprising 120 numbers of 2.1-MW rated Suzlon WTGs) located at Sidhpurin Devbhoomi Dwaraka district, Gujarat. The project was awarded to Apraava Energy as part of the Tranche VIII wind tender sponsored by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). With this addition, Apraava’s operational wind portfolio now stands at around 1,200 MW. (January 30, 2025)
The board of Exide Industries Ltd has decided to inject Rs.300 crore by way of equity in its wholly-owned subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions Ltd (EESL), Exide said in a stock exchange filing. EESL is setting up a greenfield multi-megawatt lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility in India and the equity infusion is meant to meet EESL’s funding requirement. (January 29, 2025)
Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd has announced the winning of orders worth Rs.362 crore for supply of EHV power transformers from several clients including Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, KEC International, Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, Torrent Power, among others. Jyoti Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, said that it has received a letter of award of Rs.40 crore (exclusive of GST) for design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of electromechanical works of Handa Barrage hydropower project (approximate capacity: 5×500 kW) located in Madhya Pradesh. The contract, scheduled for completion by January 23, 2027, was placed by Karan Development Services Pvt Ltd. (January 27, 2025)
KEC International Ltd has secured new orders of Rs.1,445 crore with respect to domestic power T&D projects. The orders include those from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for ± 800kV HVDC and 400kV transmission lines. With this, KEC’s cumulative order inflows in FY25 so far have crossed Rs.22,000 crore. (January 24, 2025)
NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) has emerged as a successful bidder in an e-reverse auction conducted by NHPC Ltd. Consequently, NTPC REL secured a capacity of 300 MW at a tariff of Rs.3.09 per unit. In line with the Request for Selection (RFS) conditions, the project will include the establishment of an energy storage system (ESS) with capacity of 150MW/300MWh, ensuring enhanced reliability and efficiency of the solar power generation. Kalpataru Projects International Ltd (KPIL), along with its international subsidiaries, has received new orders worth Rs.2,038 crore, including mandates in the domestic and international power T&D segment. With this, KPIL’s cumulative order inflow in FY25 so far has reached Rs.19,361 crore, the company said in a communication. (January 24, 2025)
ACME Solar Holdings Ltd (ASHL), through its wholly-owned subsidiaries ACME Deoghar Solar Power Pvt Ltd and ACME Phalodi Solar Energy Pvt Ltd, has commissioned the remaining capacity of 47 MW and 39.95 MW, respectively, on January 23, 2025. These two plants, both in Rajasthan, are now fully commissioned to rated capacity of 300 MW each. With this, ASHL’s total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 2,540 MW. Suzlon Group has received an order from Torrent Power to supply 162 units of S144 wind turbine generators (WTG) with hybrid lattice towers, each rated at 3 MW, for deployment in the Bhogat region of Gujarat. This 486-MW order has taken Suzlon’s cumulative WTG order inflow from Torrent Power to 1 GW, a release by Suzlon Group said. (January 24, 2025)
Saatvik Green Energy Ltd has been awarded two solar EPC contracts by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL). Aggregating 23 MW of installed capacity, these contracts include a 11-MW solar project in Lamlehri Upperli and a 12-MW solar project in Gondpur Bulla, both in Una district. Under the agreement, Saatvik will be responsible for comprehensive designing, supplying, engineering and construction of these projects, the company said in a release. (January 23, 2025)
RPP Infra Projects Ltd has won an order valued at Rs.28.77 crore from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) relating to erection, testing and commissioning of air-cooled condenser and associated auxiliaries of Unit-2 of the upcoming 3×800-MW Patratu super thermal power project in Jharkhand. The power project is being developed by Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (PUVNL) that is a 74:26 joint venture between a NTPC Ltd and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (JBVNL). (January 23, 2025)
Reliance Power Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, announced the appointment of Neeraj Parakh as the company’s Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 20, 2025. Bondada Engineering Ltd has received a work order valued at Rs.88.49 crore from KPI Green Energy Ltd for BOS (balance of system) items, supply and services for EPCC works at Vagra, Amod and Rajkot solar power plant locations in Gujarat. Sharika Enterprises Ltd has received an order worth Rs.5.74 crore to be completed in six months from Powergrid Energy Services Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), to supply and install rooftop solar systems on government buildings and on PGCIL’s buildings in the northern region, under PM Surya Ghar-Mufti Bijli Yojana. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has acquired 77,30,225 equity shares hitherto held by IL&FS Energy Development Company Ltd (IEDCL) in Cross Border Power Transmission Company Ltd (CPTCL). With this, PGCIL’s shareholding in CPTCL has risen to 42 per cent. Incorporated in December 2006, CPTCL is a joint venture between PGCIL, IEDCL, SJVN Ltd and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to implement the Indian portion of 400kV double-circuit Muzaffapur-Dhalkebar Indo-Nepal cross border power transmission line. Surana Power & Telecom Ltd has received a letter of award as solar power developer from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) for building solar PV stations aggregating 54 MW (AC) at various locations in Maharashtra. The project is part of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 scheme, which is part of Component C of PM-KUSUM Yojana. The solar power plants will be built over a period of 18 months, and the overall contract, valued at Rs.190 crore, also includes a 25-year O&M mandate. Surana will supply power at Rs.3.09 per kwh and will receive a capital subsidy of Rs.1.05 crore per MW. (January 17, 2025)
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) has finalized a joint venture agreement with SJVN Ltd, GMR Energy Ltd, and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the development of the 900-MW Upper Karnali hydropower project in Nepal. The JV agreement lays out a comprehensive framework for the project development, construction, operation, and maintenance under a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) model, with a 25-year project term from the commercial operation date. Vikram Solar has announced the winning of a 1-GW solar module supply order for deployment in solar projects of JSW Neo Energy in Karnataka, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering Ltd has signed a long-term supply contract with GE Vernova International LLC, USA, for the supply of highly engineered, complex rotating and stationary airfoils for advanced gas turbine engines. This contract will help meet GE Veronva’s global demand in the power generation industry. Hartek Group’s C&I rooftop solar business unit has won complete solar EPC contract of 8-MW from Kandhari Beverages Pvt Ltd, a bottling plant of Hindustan Coca Cola. This will become Jammu & Kashmir’s largest rooftop solar installation, a Hartek Group release said, adding that the project is under execution and will be commissioned this quarter. This is the third project awarded to Hartek by Kandhari Beverages in the past two years, bringing their total installations for the beverage company to 14 MW, the release added. (January 15, 2025)

Orb Energy has announced the crossing Rs.300 crore in financing disbursements from its unique zero collateral, zero down payment in-house finance facility. This achievement underscores the company’s dedication to addressing the energy challenges faced by Indian enterprises, particularly MSMEs and SMBs, while enabling them to transition to cost-effective solar energy solutions. AM Green has partnered with DP World, a global logistics leader, to create a sustainable supply chain for green fuels and chemicals. Under the MOU, DP World and AM Green will jointly develop logistics and storage infrastructure to facilitate the global export of 1 million tonnes per annum of green ammonia and 1 million tpa of green methanol. This includes, among others, developing port infrastructure across AM Green Net-Zero Industrial Clusters to facilitate global exports; and, developing bunkering infrastructure across Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia for green ammonia and methanol supplied from AM Green plants. REC Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Gandhigram Rural Institute under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. REC has committed financial assistance of Rs.8.44 crore for establishing a 1-MW multi-technology ground mounted, grid connected solar photovoltaic power plant for the benefit of students, research scholar at the Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has commissioned 110 MW of new solar power generation capacity – 60 MW at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan and 50 MW at Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh. Saatvik Green Energy Ltd has announced winning of a 1-GW solar PV module supply contract from an unnamed energy producer. Under the deal, valued at over Rs.1,500 crore, Saatvik will supply advanced technology N-TOPCon solar PV modules. Hartek Group’s Power System business unit has secured a Rs.117-crore project in Gujarat from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. The project involves the extension of a 765kV air-insulated switchgear (AIS) substation as well as 400/220kV substation work, Hartek Group said in a statement without giving further details on the contract. Husk Power announced 100 per cent growth in its portfolio of community solar minigrids over the past 12 months. The company is now present in over 400 communities in rural Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, serving more than 1.5 million people and over 30,000 small businesses. Waaree Energies Ltd has announced the commencement of trial production at its 5.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Chikhli, Gujarat. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd has emerged as a successful bidder in the e-reverse auction conducted by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL). The tender, aimed at the “Selection of Solar Power Developers for Setting up 2,000 MW ISTS-connected Solar PV Power Projects in India under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding,” was conducted on January 3, 2025. NTPC REL secured a capacity of 1,000 MW at a tariff of Rs.2.56 per kwh. The letter of award (LOA) from UPPCL is awaited. (January 6, 2025)
REC Ltd has disbursed loans worth Rs.54,692 crore during Q3 (October to December) of FY25, up 17.98 per cent year-on-year. The quantum of renewable energy loan disbursements grew 58.09 per cent year-on-year to reach Rs.6,314 crore in Q3FY25. For the nine months (April to December) period of FY25, REC disbursed total loans amounting to Rs.1,45,647 crore, which is higher by 19.30 per cent compared to Rs.1,22,089 crore disbursed in corresponding period of FY24.Of this, renewable energy loans aggregated Rs.17,612 crore, up 78.68 per cent year-on-year.
