Shuchi Anant Virya has announced its partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) to set up a pan-India network of public EV charging points at the oil marketing company’s retail outlets.
Shuchi Anant Virya is a 50:50 joint venture between Lithium Urban Technologies and Fourth Partner Energy. Shuchi currently owns and operates EV charging hubs in Gurugram and Pune.
The installation of these charging points will be done in a phased manner across the country. The network will include both, fast and slow chargers for all vehicular segments – two-wheelers, three-wheelers, cars, and buses. Shuchi has also developed in-house cloud-based technology for easy deployment, operation, and maintenance of these charging units.
Explaining the rationale behind the partnership, Sanjay Krishnan, Founder, Lithium Urban Technologies said, “Sustainable energy and green mobility transition is no longer an emerging trend, but an environmental imperative. India has an aggressive commitment towards de-carbonization and electric mobility plays a key role in facilitating this. The EV sector is at an inflection point – addressing gaps in charging infrastructure and ensuring the affordability of electric vehicles will be essential. Our partnership with HPCL addresses the pervasive access and availability of the EV charging network across India.”

Improving the utilization levels is critical for bringing economic viability to the EV charging business. This partnership with Shuchi will further enable HPCL’s efforts towards growing its EV charging infrastructure footprint across the country and improving access to sustainable mobility solutions for both, commercial and passenger vehicle segments.
“Via this partnership, Shuchi plans to create a network in the Tier-I cities, to begin with, followed by an expansion to Tier-II cities and national highways. The company is also gearing up to provide charging as a service for buses as well as freight vehicles for last-mile logistics. Our larger goal is to power the EV charging network with 100 percent renewable energy sources,” according to Saif Dhorajiwala, Co-founder and Executive Director, Fourth Partner Energy.
