Siemens Ltd in consortium with Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) will be providing electrification solutions to the upcoming Mumbai Metro Line 2B.
In a release, Siemens said that in consortium with RVNL has secured an order from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for electrification of Mumbai Metro Line 2B.
The share of Siemens as part of the consortium is Rs.228 crore while that of RVNL share is Rs.149 crore.
Siemens Ltd will manufacture, install and commission rail electrification solutions and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, covering 20 stations and one depot. On its part, RVNL will be commissioning Receiving Substations (RSS) solutions.

According to information available from MMRDA, the Mumbai Metro Line 2B is a fully-elevated corridor running 23.643 km from DN Nagar to Mandale, with 20 stations. The line aims at improving connectivity between the eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai. Line 2B will offer direct and indirect connectivity with existing and upcoming infrastructure such as Western Express Highway, Eastern Express Highway, Western Railway, Central Railway, Mono Rail, Metro Line 1 (Ghatkopar to Versova) and Metro Line 2A (Dahisar to D N Nagar), Metro Line 4 (Wadala to Kasarvadavali) and Metro Line 3 (Colaba to SEEPZ).
