Siemens Ltd announced that it has provided rail electrification technologies for a 42-km-long stretch, including the longest rail tunnel (12.8-km ) at Pir Panjal range, on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link.
The project is part of the Jammu-Udhampur-Katra-Quazigund-Baramulla Railway line of the Indian Railways, the largest construction of mountain railway line since India’s independence, with a length of 345 kilometers and at a height of approximately 1,700m above sea level.
Siemens Ltd’s scope included the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 25kV overhead equipment and associated works.

The installation team overcame challenges such as extreme temperatures and unexplored terrain to ensure a successful execution of the project.
