SJVN announced that it has awarded the EPC contracts for two upcoming solar power projects, aggregating 125 mw, in Uttar Pradesh.
In a release, the Central PSU said that the contracts for the 75-mw solar project at Gurah in Jalaun district and the 50-mw plant at Gujrai in Kanpur Dehat district were awarded to Solarworld Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd, for an aggregate contract value of Rs.691 crore.
These EPC contracts include end-to-end delivery of the commissioned solar plants, including comprehensive O&M for two years, to SJVN. The contract value for the 75-mw Gurah project is Rs.410.75 crore while that for the 50-mw Gujrai project is Rs.280 crore.
Both the projects are contracted to commission by April 2023.
According to Nand Lal Sharma, CMD, SJVN, quoted in a release, these projects were secured through tariff-based competitive bidding conducted by state nodal agency Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA).
SJVN had quoted a tariff of Rs 2.98 per kwh for both the solar projects and power generated from these projects will be procured by UPPCL for 25 years. The 75-mw Gurah project will generate 159 MU (million units or million kwh) energy annually with capacity utilization factor (CUF) of 24.22 per cent while the Gujrai project will generate 106 MU energy annually with CUF of 24.20 per cent.

SJVN currently has a total portfolio of around 31,500 mw, including commissioned projects and those in the execution pipeline. Project additions are paving the path for achieving SJVN’s Shared Vision of 5 GW by 2023, 25 GW by 2030 and 50 GW of installed capacity by 2040, the company release said.
