Central PSU SJVN Ltd has awarded the EPC contract for its floating solar power project to Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T).
In a release, SJVN said that the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract for its 90-mw floating solar power project coming up on the Omkareshwar Reservoir in Madhya Pradesh has been awarded to L&T. The contractual completion timeframe for the project stands at December 2023.
On January 13, 2023, the EPC works for the Omkareshwar solar project were inaugurated at the hands of Nand Lal Sharma, CMD, SJVN Ltd.
The project, with an estimated outlay of Rs.650 crore, is being developed by SJVN’s wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy (SGEL). The project was bagged Rs.3.26 per kwh on build own and operate basis under a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process conducted by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd.
The PPA for the project has been signed between SGEL, RUMSL and MP Power Management Company Ltd.
In the first year of operation, the Omkareshwar floating solar project is expected to generate 196 million kwh of electricity with cumulative generation expected at 4570 million kwh over the 25-year project lifecycle.
