Central PSU SJVN Ltd has won a 200-mw solar photovoltaic project in Bihar, through the competitive bidding route.

In a release, SJVN said that the project was clinched at a tariff of Rs.3.11 per kwh, in an auction conducted by Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) on August 13, 2012.

SJVN got the better of three other contenders, it said in a release, for the project that will be developed under the Build, Own and Operate (BOO) mode with an investment of Rs.1,000 crore.

Solar power generated through this project will be sold to BREDA under a 25-year PPA. In the first year, the solar asset is expected to generate 420.48 million kwh. During the 25-year period, the Bihar solar power project will have generated an estimated 10,512 million kwh.

Third solar project

For SJVN, this is the third solar project won under the competitive bidding route. It has earlier won two projects—one each in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh—with an aggregate installed capacity of 145 mw. The 345-mw of solar power capacity, currently under development, is expected to commission by March 2022.

Current installed capacity

SJVN currently has a total installed generation capacity of 2,016.5 mw that includes two hydropower projects aggregating 1,912 mw, two solar plants totaling 6.9 mw and two wind power projects worth 97.6 mw.
