SJVN inaugurates upstream coffer dam of Dhaulasidh project

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN, on July 8, 2022, inaugurated the upstream coffer dam of the 66-mw Dhaulasidh hydropower project at Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh.

Sharma also inaugurated a 16m-long 4.25m-wide concrete bridge on Salasi Khad, as well as the project office building at Salasi.

On this occasion, Parminder Awasthi, Project Head, along with project officials were also present.

The foundation stone of the Dhaulasidh project was laid at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 27 2021. Currently, project activities are in full swing, SJVN said in a release.  Stripping work on the right bank of dam site is nearing completion whereas the work has been completed on left bank. Stripping works in the power house area are also in full swing.

“The coffer dam has been completed in record time of 4 months 10 days and four months ahead of schedule. This marks completion of river diversion works paving way for full scale excavation works of Dam Foundation which is already in progress,” according to Sharma.

Enumerating the benefits of Salasi Khad bridge,. Sharma said that it will provide connectivity between river banks apart from speeding up the dam construction activities.”

The 66-mw Dhaulasidh project is a run-of-river scheme on river Beas. The project, estimated to cost Rs.687 crore, is expected to annually generate 304 million kwh of electricity.
