SJVN Ltd has announced the signing of an MoU by its wholly-owned subsidiary with Norwegian firm Ocean Sun AS to collaborate in the field of floating solar power technology.
As part of the MoU, SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN Ltd, shall develop and finance a pilot membrane-based floating solar project of about 2 mw at a suitable location anywhere in India. The patented technological support for this project shall be provided by Ocean Sun AS, Norway.
This MoU shall pave way for transfer of technological knowledge and cooperation amongst the two nations. Once this pilot project is on its success path, the two companies can endeavor to expand this technology on large scale along the vast coast line in the southern part of India, a release by SJVN said.
50-GW Vision
This MOU signing will strengthen the footprints of SJVN in renewable energy sector and will help in achieving Government of India’s target of 50 per cent installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030. This will also help in achieving the company’s new Mission of 12 GW by 2026 and the Shared Vision of 50 GW installed capacity by 2040.
