SJVN announced that it is likely to soon commission its 75-mw solar power project located within the Parasan Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh.
In a release, SJVN said that commissioning work on the solar project has started and the process of commissioning is likely to be completed by end-October 2022. The Parasan Solar Park is located in Kalpi tehsil of Jalaun district near Kanpur.
Once commissioned, the Parasan solar power project, with an estimated outlay of Rs.392.30 crore, will take SJVN”s total operational capacity to 2,091.5 mw that will include two hydropower projects, two wind power plants and three solar installations.
SJVN’s 75-mw Parasan solar power project was won at a tariff of Rs.2.68 per kwh, on BOO basis under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism. SJVN will sell power from this project to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The Parasan solar facility will generate 168.34 million kwh of electricity in the first year of operation, and the total generation during its 25-year lifecycle is an estimated 3919 MU. SJVN expects to earn annual revenues of Rs.45.11 crore from the Parasan solar power project.

SJVN is currently implementing renewable energy (RE) projects of 4,007.5 mw (around 4 GW), some of which have been housed under SJVN’s wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Ltd.
After commissioning of the Parasan solar power project, out of this 4,007.5 mw RE portfolio, 179.5 mw will be under operation. Another 1,370 mw worth of projects are currently under construction while the remaining 2,458 mw is accounted for by projects at various stages of development.
