SJVN Ltd has won a solar power project in Maharashtra, through a tariff-based auction process by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).

In a release, SJVN said that it has won a 200-mw solar power project through an MSEDCL auction, by quoting the winning tariff of Rs.2.95 per kwh.

The project, won through the e-reverse auction (e-RA) rote will be developed on build, own, operate (BOO) basis by SJVNL’s wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Ltd.

With this project, SJVN will now be developing 505 mw of solar power capacity in Maharashtra.

The tentative project outlay is Rs.1,200 crore. On commissioning, the project is expected to generate 455 million kwh (MU) of electricity and 10,480 MU over the project’s lifetime of 25 years.

The Power Purchase Agreement will be signed between SJVN and MSEDCL for 25 years. As per RfS, the Project shall be commissioned in 15 months from the date of PPA signing if the project is developed in a solar park and if the project is developed outside the solar park, it shall be developed within 18 months, the SJVN release said.

Other winners in MSEDCL auction

According to Mercom, two other developers were allotted solar projects in the same auction where SJVN won 200 mw, as discussed in this story. The developers were SolarArise (100 mw, Rs.2.90 per kwh) and Tata Power Renewable Energy (200 mw, Rs.2.97 per kwh). State utility MSEDCL had floated a tender in October this year to source 500 mw of solar power on a long-term basis.
