REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), as the bid process coordinator (BPC) has incorporated a project special purpose vehicle for developing an interstate transmission system project in Madhya Pradesh.
In a stock exchange filing, REC Ltd, the holding company of RECPDCL said that the project SPV will develop an ISTS transmission project under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route. The said project is officially termed as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajgarh 1,000 mw SEZ in Madhya Pradesh – Phase II”.
The REC filing did not however disclose the name of the project SPV.
According to information available with T&D India but not contained in the REC stock exchange filing, the transmission project under discussion will be implemented in a timeframe of 24 months, and the project would entail investment of around Rs.540 crore.
The main project elements of the transmission scheme include:
- Augmentation of transformation capacity of Pachora pooling station through three 400/220kV, 500 MVA ICTs — representing the fourth, fifth and sixth at the pooling station
- A 400kV double-circuit line from Pachora pooling station to Ujjain substation of MPPTCL, running 60 km (route length)
- Two 400kV line bays at Ujjain related to the aforementioned Pachora-Ujjain line
The National Committee on Transmission (NCT) had recommended this project for implementation under the TBCB mode during its meeting held on March 24, 2023.

There is also a related scheme that entails evacuation of 2,500 mw from the Rajgarh SEZ. This project, won under the TBCB route, is being implemented by GR Infraprojects Ltd.
