Srex GIS Contract | T&D India

Noida-headquartered Srex Power India has won an order from Vivo Mobile India to build an EHV substation in Uttar Pradesh.

In a release, Srex Power India said that the 220kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substation would help meet the power requirement of Vivo Mobile India’s mobile handset and electronic gadgets manufacturing unit located at YEIDA in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Srex Power India said that it clinched this Rs.66-crore GIS substation mandate amidst stiff competition from leading contenders. The upcoming installation is also believed to be the first 220kV GIS substation set by any manufacturing unit in YEIDA or neighbouring areas.

Commenting on the order win, Sanjay Chatterjee, CEO – Operations, Srex Power India, said that project execution would be challenging due to several factors like dispatch of heavy equipment like power transformers and gas-insulated switchgear from the manufacturing plants to the project site, inclement soil conditions, pandemic-related restrictions, etc.

Chatterjee however expressed confidence in commissioning the project within the stipulated time period, owing to the rich experience that Srex Power India has gained over the years in commissioning similar GIS substations for clients like Brookfield Reality, Honda, Aarti Industries, Enel Wind Technologies, Atul Ltd, ASF Insignia and Bharti Reality, among other pan-India clients. “Early completion of the project is the key. We are committed to commission the substation within the next 12 months,” Chatterjee observed.

Speaking on his company’s mission, Sanjay Chatterjee asserted that Srex Power has dedicated itself towards strengthening and modernizing India’s manufacturing industry by equipping it with a robust power distribution network so as to address the growing energy demand.
