Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power DDL) is taking proactive measures by organizing an extensive safety drive for its consumers to reduce chances of electricity-related mishaps, ahead of the monsoon season.
Under this safety drive, the company is ensuring timely maintenance, inspection and checking of electrical leakage in over 1.3 lakh electrical and street light poles, fencing, pillar boxes etc. During the ongoing drive 200+ ATMs and 350+ fancy lights installed in parks have been checked, leakages found have been fixed and rectified. Besides this, the safety inspections are being undertaken in weekly bazaars and uneven areas with potholes. The discom has proactively trimmed trees to avoid collapsing of branches on electrical installations, poles and overhead wires in certain areas of North Delhi.
Acknowledging the fact that illegal encroachment of residential and commercial properties near the overhead power lines results in severe construction hazards, further leading to loss of life due to electrocution or flash burns, customers are also being sensitized about dangerous effects of unauthorized construction in the vicinity of live electrical lines. Notices are also being issued wherever violations are observed. Supply is also being disconnected for dangerous installations in congested areas.
The company carries out preventive maintenance and line patrolling to reduce the possibility of any safety hazard and interruption of electrical equipment of Transmission and Distribution network. It also advises customers to get the wiring of their house checked from a competent electrician to ensure their safety.
