During the lockdown, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd received more than 90 per cent of its bill payments from digital modes.
It the months of April and May, the utility saw zero cash bill payments.
Before that, only 65 per cent of consumers were using digital modes of payments, a release from Tata Power DDL observed. This positive trend emerged mainly because of all major digital platforms and modes that were made available by the company to its consumers for e-payment.
Of all the available e-payments modes, e-wallets have emerged as the most preferred one with a share of 40-43 per cemt followed by net banking with 20-21 per cent share. The main reason behind the popularity of e-wallets is the cash back offers associated with it, the release observed.
All segments of consumers be it domestic, industrial or agricultural, have overwhelmingly opted for e-payments with a respective share of 94.75 per cent, 92.18 per cent and 72 per cent share.

It the months of April and May, the utility saw zero cash bill payments. During the lockdown, the company also introduced various new features for hassle a free delivery and payment of the electricity bills so that consumers can avail all the services safely, from the confines of their homes.
Tata Power-DDL has also become first utility to create ‘View Bill’ option with one of India’s most used e-commerce payment system & fin-tech company – Paytm. Now, consumers can view their duplicate bill copy before processing the payment, which helps them to check his/ her billing details and past trends, without keeping hard copy of the original bill, the release noted.

Tata Power-DDL also continuously urges its consumers to continue the use of digital modes for payment in a safe and secure manner while complying with the guidelines issued by the government during the ongoing pandemic and avail various offers and schemes like DERC Rebate Scheme, Pay Bill and Win Scheme etc. to support cashless payments.
