Thermax Ltd, in a stock exchange filing, said that it has received an order to supply flue gas desulphurization (FGD) systems, valued at over Rs.500 crore.

The Pune-based environmental engineering company said that it has concluded an order of Rs.545.60 crore from an undisclosed “Indian power public sector company” to set up FGD systems for two units of 500-mw each, in Uttar Pradesh.

The FGD systems will be installed at the generator’s power plant to cut down SOx emissions and comply with the air quality standards set for the power plants.

The scope of supply includes design, engineering, manufacturing, civil work, construction and commissioning of the FGD systems. The project is slated to be completed in 30 months.

Second FGD order

This order is the second FGD-related order for Thermax Ltd during the current fiscal year, FY22. According to information available with T&D India, Thermax, in November 2021, had won a Rs.830-crore order to supply three FGD units to an independent power producer for a 3×660-mw power plant in Uttar Pradesh.

Commitment reinforced

According to Ashish Bhandari, MD & CEO, Thermax, “Our proven technological capabilities in the area of air pollution and gaseous abatement, especially FGD, where we are already executing a few large orders, led to this competitive win. In addition to supporting the customer in meeting statutory compliance related to industrial pollution norms, the project reinforces our commitment to the environment.”
