Transrail Lighting Ltd has received its maiden EPC order from The Middle East, a company statement said.
The turnkey order, worth $17.23 million (around Rs.125 crore), involves conductor replacement of various 132kV overhead power transmission lines in and around Amman, the capital city of Jordan. The order has been placed by National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Jordan.
The contract entails reconductoring of old transmission line with the new high-end ACCC (aluminium conductor composite core) conductor. The ACCC conductor is light weight and has higher current carrying capacity.
The project involves replacement of two lots of 132kV lines. Lot 1 consists of four lines aggregating 44 km while Lot 2 has five lines aggregating 57 km. These are very old electricity lines passing through a highly populated area in and around the capital city, Amman, the release observed.
It may be mentioned that this order marks the first EPC order for Transrail Lighting in the Middle East region. Transrail has for long been supplying products to the region.

According to D. C. Bagde, Managing Director, Transrail Lighting Ltd, “NEPCO has awarded the contract to Transrail by evaluating our long-standing experience in power transmission. We are committed to complete this job with utmost care for safety and ensuring minimum inconvenience to the residents of Amman. The advance composite core conductors are lighter and hence the current carrying capacity gets increased on same old towers. Thus it is going to result in cost savings for the client.”
