US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), on September 16, 2021, hosted a virtual interaction with Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, R K Singh, and leaders from the energy sector from both USA and India.
The interaction held was extremely significant in light of the recently concluded US-India Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP) dialogue and the achievement of the 1-GW renewable energy capacity addition milestone, an official release said.
R. K. Singh, in his remarks stated that to achieve its energy goals, the Government of India’s priorities for the energy sector are focused on innovating and trying new things. He emphasised that India is the only G20 country reducing carbon emissions at such a paced rate. The Minister also mentioned that the Government is working on creating mandates to transition from grey to green, in both the hydrogen and ammonia front. In conclusion, he spoke about the importance of battery storage and on the imminent bids to manufacture electrolyzers in India.
The roundtable also served as an opportunity for the industry to brief the Minister on the latest technologies and solutions that can be deployed to assist India’s energy transition, as the ministry begins to work on the Prime Minister’s vision of energy independence by 2047.

“Energy storage has an essential role to play in helping India realise its vision for a more sustainable energy future. AES is committed to support India’s decarbonisation mission by making our innovative technologies, namely Fluence for battery storage and 5B for automation of solar construction, locally available in India,” noted Rajendra Shrivastav, President, AES India.
“There is limitless potential for energy and climate cooperation between the two countries. USISPF remains steadfast in its commitment to work together with both industry and government to support the priorities of the recently revamped Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP) that will help ensure energy security and access for all,” stated Nolty Theriot, Senior Vice President, USISPF.
USISPF’s membership represents leading renewable energy, oil & gas, infrastructure, manufacturing, and mobility companies. It also leads the infrastructure sub-committee of the U.S-India Gas Task Force, is the secretariat for the newly formed U.S. – India Hydrogen Task Force and has recently partnered with USTDA to forum the Climate Action Technologies Group (CTAG).
