Vikram Solar inaugurates solar module manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu

Vikram Solar has inaugurated a new 1.3-GW solar module manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, taking the company’s total such capacity to 2.5 GW.

The new manufacturing facility is located at Indospace Industrial Park, Oragadam, Tamil Nadu. In a release, Vikram Solar said that this facility has taken the company’s total solar module manufacturing capacity to 2.5 GW per year, making the company India’s largest solar module maker

 

The company’s other manufacturing facility is located at Falta in West Bengal and has annual capacity of 1.2 GW.

 

According to Gyanesh Chaudhary, Managing Director, Vikram Solar, said, “This is an extension of our endeavour to provide high quality, reliable, technologically superior products and timely delivery to our customers. It will further contribute as an R&D platform for next-gen module technology. We have extensively leveraged digitization to ensure reliable and efficient manufacturing operations. We thank the Tamil Nadu government for their continued support and conducive environment to enable ease of doing business within the state.”

 

The new manufacturing facility was inaugurated at the hands of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin.

The release also observed that the company has implemented digital production display board, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled inspection for zero defect amongst various such emerging technologies. The digitization initiatives have further enabled seamless process like lean manufacturing, reducing and controlling wastages.
