Voltamp Transformers Ltd has begun construction activity on its new transformer manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
According a company release, all formalities relating to acquisition of land have been completed and construction of the factory building has commenced for the new power transformer manufacturing facility at Jarod in Vadodara district, Gujarat.
The new facility has been planned in view of “promising demand scenario” in the transformer market over the next 7-10 years, the release said.
According to information previously released by the company, the new power transformer manufacturing plant will have annual capacity of around 6,000 MVA, in the first phase. The plant will roll out transformer of up to 250 MVA capacity, in the 220kV class. Capacity expansion will be undertaken in future, governed by market conditions, the company said. The capital outlay for the new unit is around Rs.200 crore that will be financed through internal accruals.
Voltamp currently has two manufacturing units — located at Makarpura and Vadadla – both in Gujarat.
Performance in 9MFY25
As of January 31, 2025, the company’s order book position stood at Rs.1,114 crore, or 9,692 MVA in physical terms. Voltamp opened FY25 with an order book of Rs.840.66 crore (7,839 MVA) as of April 1, 2024. During the period from April 1, 2024 to January 30, 2024, the new order inflow stood at Rs.1,657 crore (or 13,581 MVA).
Transformer sales during the first nine months (April to December) of FY25 grew 22 per cent to reach 10,970 MVA from 8,965 MVA in the same period of FY24.
Outlook
The release noted that the enquiry pipeline is healthy and expected to continue. Going forward, business outlook looks stable, aided by steady growth in domestic demand. The company’s operations for the nine-month period of FY25 are satisfactory and order booking, production and despatches are in line with the budgeted numbers. During the FY25, the company is anticipating full utilization of manufacturing capacity, the release said.
